New design of the iPhone 5
It is hinted that Apple will mostly recycle the new iPhone5 design keeping it almost 95% similar to the CDMA phones. The indicative designs of the new phone show that it will use the antenna diversity to improve the phone’s reception capability and reduce the call drop percent.
Rumors have also shown that the Company’s bill of materials is expected to be lower by 5% to 10%. The Company’s manufacturing cost is expected to increase because of the additional complexity of the iPhone5 because of the GSM support provided. The removal of CDMA components and adding the GSM components requires additional costs.
